Range Rover Makes The Best SUV In The World
The Range Rover wasn't supposed to be a luxury vehicle, just a larger version of the Land Rover Series trucks. The seats were vinyl, the dash a spartan plastic affair. It was powered by a detuned, 153-horsepower version of Rover's 3.5-liter, aluminum block V-8, which was originally developed by GM for Buick. After years as a grey market staple, the Range Rover officially arrived in the United States in 1987, and sold just enough to capture the imagination of well-heeled America.
